Hand & Wrist

handThe hand is composed of 27 small bones called carpals, metacarpals, and phalanges. This includes the 8 bones of the wrist, the 5 bones that form the palm, and the 14 digital bones, which form the fingers and thumb. Movement and sensation are created by the electrical impulses transmitted by the major nerves of the hand, the Median and Ulnar. The two bones of the lower arm, the radius and the ulna, meet at the hand to form the wrist.
