Pediatric Orthopaedic Care

kidsChildren are not "small adults" ...and their treatment is different. Our orthopaedic surgeons are dedicated to the musculoskeletal health of children from infancy through adolescence. Specialized care includes the management of congenital and development disorders including congenital hip dislocation and scoliosis. During growth periods, the skeletal structure grows faster than the ability of the tendons to stretch, increasing the chance of injury. With increased participation in organized sports, children are susceptible to overuse and traumatic injury. At The Orthopaedic Center, the treatment of fractures and musculoskeletal injuries in children and adolescents includes evaluation and treatment of sports related injuries. Many injuries are treated with casting and bracing, however more serious injuries may require surgical intervention. Early diagnosis and treatment with appropriate rehabilitation is essential to successful recovery.
